Frequently Asked Questions

Dear Banana Boat® Community,

Our mission is to help you and your family have fun in the sun. We know this means you need suncare protection that you can trust.

As such, we want to share some context regarding a recent report from Valisure and reassure you that our choice of ingredients not only meets all regulatory requirements, but also complies with our own principles based on scientific definitions for the safe use of ingredients and strict standards established by regulatory agencies around the world. Our suncare products also undergo rigorous testing to ensure safety and quality. The report claims a chemical called Benzene may potentially be present in different sunscreen brands sold in the US, including select Banana Boat® products. While we are currently reviewing and evaluating the report, we want to clarify that Benzene is not an ingredient in any of our Banana Boat® sunscreens or after sun products.

Importantly, while Benzene may potentially be present as an impurity, any trace of Benzene in the Banana Boat® products at the levels reported by Valisure does not present a consumer safety concern and is within allowable limits set by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for drug products.

The FDA governs our product testing, ingredients, formulas, packaging and labelling to ensure all our products meet FDA regulations and are safe for use by you and your family. Please refer to the frequently asked questions below to learn more.
